I had this in /etc/rc.d/rc.local hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda To see all options : hdparm -I /dev/sda Bip i don't have that, but anyway if i do 'hdparm -B /dev/sda' i see it is set to 254, if i unplug the ac adapter and do 'hdparm -B /dev/sda' it is set to 128 ( w...

on my netbook disks spin down after a while if im on battery, can i make it spin down like this when i'm on AC too? maybe after a longer while of inactivity.

As title, how do i stop wicd from starting every time i log in. i don't need wicd as this computer acts as a router, so i turned off the wicd service and of course wicd complains that it can't find this service. the usual trick of killing it and logout/ login to get rid of unwanted autostarting apps...

Yes, probably, but i got inspired, i am trying to build cnijfilter now!

I wonder why though, cups identifies the printer, suggests the correct driver, but still wont work...

have you tried setting up the disk as ide in vmware?

i only run zenwalk 5.something in vmware but im pretty sure i use the Ide option.

Usb modeswitch package needs the tcl package to work at all, there are no error messages, it just doesen do anythig .

more precisely, the /lib/udev/usb_modewich helper script begins with #!/usr/bin/tclsh

I would like a lightweight alternative to zenwalk with good builtin support for usb 3g sticks, it is for my dad and he tends to give up too easily when stuff don't work out of the box.
He has only HSxPA connection to internet and zenwalk needs a lot of manual labor to get such stuff working.
