Thanks Gerard. Wireshark is fine now. One comment, though. Before a regular user was able to make captures on local interfaces. Now, to do this, I have to run wireshark under root (gksu wireshark in terminal). I will add a new entry in the menu for this. this should be fixed inside the wireshark pa...

However, would it not be possible to release a second ISO for older, or non-compliant systems with a kernel which is compiled for them e.g CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G=y rather than CONFIG_HIGHMEM64G=y etc I will try to find time to do it, anyway I would welcome some help (someone to maintain the modified kern...

was
CONFIG_DEVTMPFS=Y
CONFIG_DEVTMPFS_MOUNT=Y

why do you have to worry about options that are already checked in the default kernel ?

Still, to move up to 3.4.8, could somebody suggest a working .config?

Start from the official Zenwalk config and just make your modifications (no PAE).

no_hz is not supported by the BFS scheduler

Yes, considering that most packages are updated, and some meta-packages are different of 7.0 (perl, xorg, etc..) : fresh install is the way to go... If you are reinstalling beside an existing /home, don't forget to copy mime associations from /usr/lib/firefox into your firefox profile directory, sam...

Will you release 64 bit version? I have tested 64 bit Slackware here lately, and it's still feels much slower "for the desktop" than the 32 bit version... Zenwalk will be ported to 64 bit, but it will be an evolution, the 64 bit will replace the 32 bit version. Maybe at the end of 2013, o...

Hi, We are happy to release Zenwalk 7.2. After several months of rescheduling we think it's time to let this new jet fly. Zenwalk 7.2 is loyal to it's design : providing 1 application per task, everything needed to work / play / code / create, in a single 700MB ISO image, through a 10 minutes automa...

I don't understand this will to keep on with such a big ISO I think it's good to provide lots of packages for a distribution like Slackware. Slackware is not usable out of the box for an average user, like other Desktop distros such as Ubuntu or Zenwalk. Slackware is a bit likle LFS, it's a toolkit...

Just wondering, why not a newer kernel? 3.4.8 was declared eol. Because it's stable, and the 3.4.X line has been under testing in Zenwalk since a few weeks now. A newer kernel would surely fix some things, improve some other things, and introduce some bugs and regressions. Slackware is still using ...
