ZW 5.0 RC  Disk Manager will bring up my usb flash drive (usb1), however my abw. and gnumeric files thereon are unreadable.

Gnumeric cannot see/open files on the usb flash drive, media/usb1,  shows nothing, zero, zilch, nada.

Nothing wrong with my usb flash drive, works fine with ZW 4.8 and on down (ZW 4.6, ZW 4.4) that I have installed on other desktops and notebooks.

Mount points worked great, this problem did not exsist before ZW 5.0, why did we change it, or at least not check it in beta tests.

Interesting... my Sandisk 4gig usb flash works fine with Zen5 RC1. Abiword can see everything there. My device is listed as /media/disk
The USB is formatted as fat16

Works fine here - in fact I'm watching a movie from a Seagate external USB drive. And I installed some software from a USB flash drive a few hours ago.

What file system are you using on the flash drive? So far I've only tried NTFS and FAT32 devices, since the standard Zenwalk kernel doesn't have support for HPFS, which is the other file system I've got on a removable drive.

The usb flash drive is a Kingston Data Traveler 1gb, never formatted, been using it as it arrived.  Probably a fat16, however, it works fine with ZW 4.8, 4.6, & 4.4.

Disk file manager shows it twice, a 317m removal volume &  a 671m removal volume.  The latter, 671m shows the files, but they're all gibberish and neither abiword nor gnumeric can see their respective files.

I'll just use it with ZW 4.8 ~ 4.4 desktops,  until I get a chance to save and store the .abw & .gnumeric data then reformat it.

Just tried a 1gb PQI drive with tgz driver files and it reads normal, as does a 4gb Hong Kong special with jpeg so it's a drive/format problem.

Thanks for sharing and getting my attention to investigate further, was  too used to it always working, plus the fact it still works normal in ZW 4.8 and below.

Not thrilled with the ZW 5.0 swtch /media , too much like RedHat, Centos, Fedora for me.  I didn't like it way  back, when Red Hat et aux changed from /mnt to /media.
