I need this to solve a panel disappearing problem that occurs regularly.I wrote a script that runs from the desktop. This works, but the users in question will soon forget about using it to solve the problem.I would prefer a permanent solution and not rely on the script.
I'm not keen on installing version 7 Zenwalk as there could be a whole lot more other problems that need to be solved.
I tried to upgrade only X, using Netpkg.
There were many so many dependencies that i gave up.
Is there a way to upgrade X on it's own?

Thanks very much in advance for helping, and also thank you everyone for all the help so far on this forum.

To upgrade xorg, choose in netpkg a mirror with zenwalk-7.0 repo.
In the filter, choose installed (second option)
Select all packages present in the xorg category.

I'm not sure that your panel problem is due to xorg.
What is your graphic card ?

Can you post your .xsession-errors file just after the login ?
