Running on Zen 7 up to date current.
Having an unusual problem with window rendering, not as root but only my user display. All windows when opened have lost their min-max-close buttons normally at the right top corner. When the Firefox window is open and the pointer is clicked on say bookmarks, tools, view, etc. the drop down menu is displayed but when the pointer is moved off of the view, bookmarks, etc. the menu closes making browsing impossible. Other windows such a Thunar do not do this but it is not possible to close the window without using the close dialog on the file drop down menu due to the lack of the buttons.

Don't know if it is related but both the "windows manager" and "windows tweaks" on the main menu will not open. None of this occurs as root so I think there is some corruption in my user settings. Can I import Xfce settings from root to my user profile and correct this somehow?

Sounds like a problem I've previously run into as well?

Try opening a terminal (as user, not root) and issuing;

xfwm4

I think that was the command. Sorry, I'm not at my own computer to check.

Thanks both for your replies. The xfwm4 command has corrected the issue. \!D/
