What type of dictionaries does Abiword support?
Where do I get one for my language?
How do I make the program use it?
Cheers,
Mindflayer.

abiword uses enchant compiled with ispell, aspell and optional myspell support. By installing the aspell-packages from slackware you can use other languages than english. You will find several aspell-dictionaries here: ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/s ... word-lists

Right now spell-checking is a sort of problem as thunderbird uses myspell, ooo-2.0.2 uses hunspell (as far as i know, 2.0.1 used myspell) and abiword and bluefish use aspell. As mentioned before abiword uses enchant as a wrapper to different spellchecking so it can be recompiled against myspell, but i have no idea where to get a myspell package. The myspell included in thunderbird is not found by enchant but a unified spellchecking system in all zenapps would be very cool.

Update:
Enchant 1.2.3 will support hunspell too ( http://www.abisource.com/projects/enchant/) right now abiword uses enchant 1.2.1, but i will test the new version.

I made a testing for the next abiword

http://download.zenwalk.org/people/seba ... 6-1z24.md5
http://download.zenwalk.org/people/seba ... 6-1z24.tgz

required:
http://download.zenwalk.org/people/seba ... 6-1z24.tgz
http://download.zenwalk.org/people/seba ... 6-1z24.md5

optional contains dictionaires for de, nl, it and th
http://download.zenwalk.org/people/seba ... 6-1z24.tgz
http://download.zenwalk.org/people/seba ... 6-1z24.md5

Now you can drop aspell--dictionaries in
/usr/lib/aspell/

and with hunspell installed dop myspell/hunspell dicitionaries in
/usr/share/myspell/

if you want to set priorities for myspell, aspell, ispell for different languages edit this
cat /usr/share/enchant/enchant.ordering

so abiword can use the en-diciionaires installed by aspell as default and myspell (from ooo and mozilla) as well
you can also install all three from above and symlink
/usr/share/enchant/myspell to /usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/share/dict/ooo/
this way abiword will use all dictionaries you install in openoffice
