Hi all

I use "Duplicate Cleaner" under Windows and thought - hey - maybe someone here would like to write a shell script (or other code), which can do the same in Linux?

The challenge I suggest - write a script which does the necessary job (and help me too :) ).

Duplicate Cleaner scans an area (number of directories / disks) and sorts the found files by size. Then compares files of equal size with MD5 - if two files are the same, then they are listed as duplicates of the same file.

In Duplicate Cleaner the user can then tick off files for deletion. Nice, smart and effective.

Example. I take backup of my Linux machine, sometimes just copying files from the disk to a NAS (I haven't tested Duplicate Cleaner because I expect it would fail on a Linux drive). It would be nice if one could ask a Linux software to list duplicates for deletion. Make more space on my harddisks.

Anybody care to take this challenge?

Best regards,
Claus
