Build scripts for packages with VST support

Hi,

in order to permit some Zenwalkers using music softwares with Steinberg VST support, I decided to provide some Zenbuilds for the applications that can use it.

WARNING:

Why just a build script instead of a complete binary package? Because providing a binary package built with the VST header is just illegal, and the packager would get prosecuted by Steinberg. But nothing prevents me from helping users compile them, according to the Zenwalk policy.

Where is the Steinberg VST SDK?

The adress of the SDK often changes, so there's no direct link possible. Although you can start from there.
In order to get it, you need to register and give personal informations.

Which version to download?

Each software in the list doesn't need the same version of the SDK as another. So it will be indicated.

How can I use the buildscripts?

Just download it and type:

sh build-<package>.sh

The build script will take care of the SDK and compile the application using it. It won't begin if you don't have the required SDK archive.
For some builds, you'll have to confirm you are compiling for personal use. To make sure you have all dependancies, take a close look at the verbose messages. The configure part is not forced to stop if something is missing.

When the .tgz file is created, make sure the "legal" package is not on your system and install the new one:

# removepkg <name_of_the_package>
# installpkg <package>.txz

And after?

If a new version of the package is released, a simple upgrade would erase your current installation. It's a way to tell you to check if a VST-script is also online and build the new version. If you feel able to check frequently if a new buildscript is available, just blacklist the application in /etc/netpkg.conf .

ardour: new Zenbuild for i686, "-O2" flag and without static libraries. I suggest you to look at the dependancies in the first post.

Ardour 2.8 now provides a VST support based on VeSTige, so the Steinberg SDK is not needed anymore. I will now provide an alternative package of Ardour VST.

Note: this is not a ZENBUILD anymore but a personal buildscript. It should do everything the previous file could do anyway.
