Instead of building packages, I do share the buildscripts I have made, so you will be able to build your own packages.
In my 'buildscript repository' you will find the buildscripts for the latest versions of some software.
Using those buildscripts is very easy;
- Just copy them to a place on your harddisk;
- Make them executable (chmod 755 buildscriptname);
- Run them as root
The package will be made and put in the same directory as where the buildscript is started.
When the build process is ready you can simply install the fresh package with 'installpkg packagename'.

These are the packages from which you can find the latest buildscripts;

- Emelfm2,
A light and fast two-pane filemanager.
- Flash plugin 7,
The flash plugin recommended for Opera browsers,
using /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins as plugin directory so it is compatible with most browsers too
- Flash plugin 9,
  The flash plugin for browsers,
using /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins as plugin directory so it is compatible with most browsers
- Freetype,
The great freetype engine, but then with bytecode interpreter enabled
Please visit the freetype website because of license issues before using your fresh build package
- Gimp,
A professional image editor like photoshop under windows
- Graveman,
The well-known Graveman cd-dvd burner package.
- Junkbuster,
Now further developed as privoxy. Junkbuster is a great proxy to block advertisements using low resources.
In the package a small script is available to update the blockfile from the hosts file available at  http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
- Limewire,
One of the fastest P2P programs.
- Medit,
A nice and easy editor used for script editing, but also for normal text files a great editor to make your default.
- MPlayer,
A fast and nice media player, almost playing everything out of the box (start with 'gmplayer' with gui).
- MPlayer cvs,
Using this buildscript you can build your mplayer package from the latest bleeding edge cvs sources.
- MPlayer-codecs,
The essential - codecs package for Mplayer, so it will play almost everything out of the box.
- Mplayer skins,
A collection of skins for MPlayer (~ 70 skins at this moment)
- Opera,
The fastest and most secure browsers available at the moment. Static and shared version, from the weekly Opera builds
- Privoxy,
The further developed Junkbuster proxy; more functionality but without
- Rollemup,
  A nice pinball game.
- Seahaven,
  A nice Solitaire card game.
- Sylpheed,
A fast and easy to use e-mail client.
- Synaptics driver,
Driver for the Synaptics TouchPad for XOrg/XFree86 4.x so more advanced features of the touchpad becomes available.
- Webcore-Fonts,
The Windows TrueType fonts. After installing the package the fonts are recognised automatically
Please read the license agreement in /usr/doc/webcore-fonts- before using this script.
- XChat,
A small and fast irc client for X11.

Old packages I am not maintaining anymore, but still available (probably an older version):

- Blackbox,
a fast and simple window manager using a view resources and is highly configurable.
- Bogofilter,
a mail filter that classifies mail as spam or ham (non-spam) by a statistical analysis of the message's header and content (body).
- Dansguardian,
a fast and flexible filtering proxy for your internet client.
- Fuse,
with FUSE it is possible to implement a fully functional filesystem in a userspace program.
- Icewm,
a fast and lean window manager.
- Leafpad,
a small text editor. I switched to medit because it does have much more additional features and is still a very fast and small editor.
- Nvclock,
which is a tool to overclock your NVidea card, here build as command-line and gtk2 version (nvclock and nvclock_gtk)
- Openbox,
A fast and light Window Manager.
- Privoxy,
a flexible local proxy to filter advertisements, cookies etc... on internet. a really should have....
- Sdparm,
The sdparm utility outputs and in some cases modifies SCSI device parameters.
- Squid,
a very nice caching proxy to speed up your internet connection
- Sylpheed-Claws,
a compact, very fast and easy to use e-mail client.
- Vdesk,
a small package to add 'virtual desktop' functionality to window managers which do not have this built-in.

You can download the scripts from here: http://www.lontronics.nl/index.php?m=0009

Thanks AntikytherA ;)

Which one(s) did you use?
And did it work well, or are there points which you would see different?

New buildscript added for graveman; build-graveman-0.3.12.5.patched.2.sh.

I have removed some experimental patches, for example the sox patch.
It would be nice to know if this one is giving less problems AND does solve some problems.
For the patches used, see the script itself.

I use sylpheed and gimp build scripts and everything goes just fine; the only problem I see is that temp files are not removed at the end of the compilation process ;)

Hmm, just installed some packages again after a fresh system installation and saw the same.
Will check this asap ;)

build-graveman-0.3.12.5.patched.2.sh seems to work very well here.

Just made an iso, have written a new cd, everything seems to work fine here.
Other experiences?

Failed to build on two machines here - haven't had time to work out why. On one (which may be a bit messed up) it got as far as the configure step, then stopped. On the other it got as far as make install and then stopped.

;D As soon as I get some time, I'll see if I can work out why the script failed, and also see about installing the packages (should be able to manually complete it on the laptop, since I think it has done everything except make the install package).

Hope it works...

regards, paul.

In the buildscript you can enable logging (see top of buildscript).

It would be interesting to see what is happening there ;)

Found some error's here also, because I am installing my system again, and had to compile those packages again.
So, I will make some changes the coming days also.

I'm doing this and everything seems fine except no packages are created
I tried with gimp and mplayer cvs and no luck

In the script at the top you can enable logging.
Could you do this and tell me what is at the end of the logfile when the script stops?

Thanks,
Jan

I've been able to do that on one machine (the one that gets to the configure step and stops). In that instance, the problem seems to be missing files in /usr/include (the sanity check on cpp is failing). So for that machine, it looks as though a reinstall is called for - I still don't know why the files are missing, and I could spend months trying to copy them all back from another Zenwalk box...

For the machine where the compile completed but the package was not made, I've not yet had a chance to try logging - its the laptop, haven't had time to connect it to the net to download the source again. I was able to manually complete the package build and install it, but I'm not sure that it is fully functional.

On the laptop, I'm still having problems with the newer Graveman package. If I try to write to an iso, it fails almost immediately (same error as the one I originally posted). I also tried writing to the same device - it looked as though it was going to go through, but came up with a failure box at around 50% (I presume where it should have prompted me to insert the blank media).

In each instance, I opened a root terminal and unmounted the CD before allowing Graveman to proceed. This is one area where the CD automounting isn't a very good option...

I'll let you know once I manage to do another test build on the laptop - hopefully sometime tomorrow.

regards, paul.

Thanks Paul, keep me informed ;)

I just updated two scripts; build-webcore-fonts-1.3.sh and build-xchat-2.6.8.sh

I did notice that sometimes $0 (the name of the script) was not recognised.
No idea why, but that's why I replaced it by the full script name (to copy it in the package)
I also added a parameter so you can decide not to remove the temporary build files after building.
As last point, logging is enabled by default.

In the xchat package, dbus, python and perl are disabled.
See also http://support.zenwalk.org/index.php/topic,6876.0.html (the reason why I disabled dbus)

Dbus problem is solved by the new ZW snapshot dbus package.
Enabled dbus again in XChat and updated the script ;)

Build-mplayer-cvs.sh script updated:

- changed the same things as in build-xchat script:
  - full name of script instead of $0 because $0 was not recognised sometimes
  - added parameter so you can decide not to remove temporary build files
  - logging enabled by default
- added default Blue theme with doinst.sh for linking to /usr/share/mplayer/skins/default
- added default arial 14 font for OSD (error message because of missing font is gone now)

This way, this package is working out of the box without the need of the skin package.
The codecs package is recommended to play almost all file types.

I will change the mplayer-1.0rc1 script also when I do have some time..
