Not that I use to much Gimp. But for what I know everything seems to work. I try the single window mode.
There is a problem installing in xfce using the right click and choosing install for every pkg. I don't know exactly which pkg causes the problem (maybe gdk-pixbuf). But at certain point you cannot install
anymore pkg and some apps does not work anymore (netpkg)
So if you want to try the best way is to log in a console run
pkgtool and reboot.
Thank you

Hi gmg,

On xfce-snapshot:
I could install everything nicely, but after that nothing would start any more. What or were ever I clicked, the screen went blanc for a second and nothing more. With ctrl-alt-F2 I got into text mode and with netpkg (so here netpkg worked) reinstalled everything from the repo again.
Then I tried again, same result. After reinstalling the original gtk+2 things got going again.
Just for fun I tried the new Gimp with the old gtk+, it mentioned a libGimp version mismatch and then died. So now I'm back to the 'old' gimp.
Hope this information is of some help, although I rather would have brought some positive findings. But perhaps it is my set-up though...
But thanks for your efforts!

As I say no problems here but I have the new xorg-server installed
from
http://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/sl ... ackware/x/

Anyway if somebody else would like to try I did this
download the pkg
exit to console log as root
pkgtool
install pkg
and reboot
