Unfortunately that is incompatible with netpkg though...

No, that still won't work. You see, the problem is that wget is lying to Zendo, it is telling Zendo that the download succeeded, when in fact, it failed.

Hey sparky you can try this: check the file size in cache and the file size on the mirror and compare them. if the size in cache is less than the size on the mirror then resume. I assume that there is no file size difference in the same version.
That could actually work, although the mirror does not provide precise file sizes for packages.

The mirror may not return the precise size but wget does (and must)

Zendo 1.5.1 is ready now, changes are mostly bugfixes, looking something like this:

* Fixed the GUI lockup that was occurring during package installation
* Fixed a somewhat frequent segmentation fault
* Added "Icon Legend" to the help menu
* Split "Updates" filter into two separate filters
* Fixed package cache management bug for German version of the "find" utility.

hey Sparky, im a new zenwalk user. i've been using zendo for everything since netpkg seems quite shallow, now...
in the CL, do you think ZPM superior to netpkg, like zendo is to xnetpkg.

thanks in advance,
im merely asking for an opinion, and maybe a pro and cons scenario.

cheers. ;)

I am obviously not in a position to provide an unbiased opinion about that subject, so I should not speak about netpkg or xnetpkg. You can look at a list of features if you want to compare them yourself though.

Personally, I don't thin zendo is superior to xnetpkg, it's just different (btw zendo has some good new features that xnetpkg doesn't have but that doesn't make xnetpkg bad).
But, zpm is Reaaaally superior to netpkg. Faster, safer, more options, can handle local repositories, doesn't depend on perl, ...

why does zendo think ZUT needs xorg and gail as dependencies and Xnetpkg does not?
its really worrying if this also happens in other packages...
maybe its a bug? o.O

xorg and gail are actually included in the ZUT dep file, so zendo is right about that.

Because xorg and gail aren't really included in the repos, they have been removed since a long time! Both zendo and xnetpkg are right in their own sense.

An update for tlz packages ?

By reading the source code, I found only three files to modify :
  • CApply.cpp
  • CRefresher.h
  • CManageCacheDialog.h
  • common_fun.h for adding the extension in the struct_package structure

I made a patch to enable Zendo to handle tbz, tlz and txz packages.
Here the ZENBUILD and patch file :

First, I want to apologize for being so slow to release a much needed fix. Second, thanks a ton for this patch! I've been terribly busy lately and I will continue to be busy for a couple more weeks at least, so this patch is just what we need to get Zendo up-to-date. I try to keep zendo and zpm similar in their source code, so I modified it a bit so that they handle the compression format in exactly the same way, but this is great. After a bit more testing I should have it out in snapshot, within the day.
