OK, that title is a tad misleading. We haven't strictly got the approval of anyone but tsuren. Anyway, sorry if this shouldn't be here, but as Head of Newsletter I felt we needed an announcement topic, to make sure people who don't frequent the Documentation forum know about it.

See it here!

Check out the Documentation forums too, where you can recommend your favourite packages, tips and screenshots for publication in the Newsletter (as of now, No.2 is the next issue).

Our mission: to help spread the word of Zenwalk, to show that the forum is very active (that's you guys with the recommendations) and basically to make everyone here look really good. So why not support us? ;D

Update: I've added most of the stuff I wanted to add to the template for No.2. Please get voting on the packages, screenshots, tips and scripts you want to see recommended! After probably Wednesday night I will be adding the final votes to the Newsletter. It should be out Thursday or Friday, depending on tsuren's availability.

(Also, I'm using Tuffy Infants 2 for the Newsletter this time around, after a long discussion about fonts in the Comments thread. Follow the link above to tell me what you think.)

Whenever,
-C>Lemon

Sorry, once again, about the screenshots. If anyone can think of a better way to shrink them than Scale Image in the GIMP (i.e., a way that'd be less destructive) then I'd be obliged to hear it. Post in the Newsletter Comments thread in the Documentation forum.

I usually reduce the size of png images using GIMP. But theres no much loss there.

The ones I used were .jpg though. Would I get better quality if I saved them as .pngs using the GIMP first, then shrank them using Scale Image?

(Thanks for your input.)

^Yes , JPG's are lossy , PNG's are not.

Also , while converting to pdf , make sure the convertor does not compress images.

P.S :
Thanks for including my script \!D/
Although i see no link as mentioned in the newsletter.

Good to see the newsletter developing, however when I get to
http://manual.zenwalk.org/newsletter.html
the newsletter .pdf window is about one half of the screen width and even when the document fills that window it is difficult to read.
When you click on the "You can also download the newsletter from here."
it downloads another copy of the .pdf which opens in a new page, where the document fills the screen and is easier to read. It might be worth considering having a link that goes directly to this latter version. Keep up the good work. johnwh46 Australia.

Shame on me. :-[ I really forgot the to post the link. Not like C>Lemon, who forgot the mail attachement (me too sometimes).
Blame me for that. D!! :'(

:-X But you could have noticed, C>Lemon. Trying to lay the blame on him. ;)
No you're allright. It's me to blame for. It's gonna haunt me till death. D!! D!! :'( :(

How about fixing the pdf instead of laying blame ;)

Btw , i observed something else.
I see an empty pop-up note in the middle of the intro paragraph.
Is it supposed to show some text ?
