I reinstalled 7.0 BETA to check once again. USB stick or usb hard disk is not mounting at all. This is a serious problem to be solved before releasing 7.0.

Please test this package :

http://download.zenwalk.org/people/jp/p ... 6-70.3.txz

JP

After installing this, USB stick mounts properly only once. After unmounting and reinserting it, it does not mount. But when I disable ehci_hcd kernel module, the inserted USB storage device mounts immediately. I found the same behaviour even with the udev package that comes with 7.0 BETA.

But the problem is, next time when I boot, ehci_hcd module is again loaded even though it was removed earlier and save configuration was checked out in the kernel modules in the control panel.

So, I feel the problem is with ehci_hcd kernel module and not with udev.

blacklist 'ehci_hcd' module, in your '/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf' file.

I have a similar problem with ehci_hcd http://support.zenwalk.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=29877

I tried the udev-164 package with no better results.

to blacklist ehci_hcd it is also necessary to edit /etc/modprobe.d/usb-controller.conf

Kernel 2.6.36 is still working fine here.

I found that ehci_hcd is already blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf.

I have the following lines in /etc/modprobe.d/usb-controller.conf:

# Make sure that ehci-hcd is always loaded before uhci-hci
# # or ohci-hcd to prevent a kernel warning:
install uhci-hcd /sbin/modprobe ehci-hcd ; /sbin/modprobe -i uhci-hcd
install ohci-hcd /sbin/modprobe ehci-hcd ; /sbin/modprobe -i ohci-hcd

What should I edit here to disable ehci_hcd? Should this not be ehci_hcd instead of ehci-hcd?

I see we now have mcelog listed in our services...isn't that for 64 bit systems only?

The icon that appears in the new folder dialog in thunar seems to be missing.

In the settings manager, under appearance, there are 2 identical Zen themes.

Also, clicking Applications -> System -> Default Printer gives the error:
Code:
Failed to execute child process "my-default-printer" (No such file or directory)

Thanks for the 7.0 BETA guys!

I faced with 2 little problems:

- I can't add to the panel the XFCE applet to change keyboard layouts
- IceWeasel: after pressing F11 the browser's window disappears

This might be considered a feature. I noticed this was a shortcut in the keyboard settings and removed it for myself (F11 should be free for apps to fullscreen, not to kill a browser) but it didn't seem to be a bug.

Updating to SNAPSHOT repo shall provide this new ISO packages and changes required right?

Nothing replaces a fresh install. Anyway updating to snapshot with care to remove deprecated packages (ie : hal), and create a new user profile will provide a good overview.
