I uploaded a new gnome-themes (build 3) package today that changes the default ZenGNOME theme to be more Zenwalk like.

different background
different icon-theme
different metacity theme
different double-click on titlebar effect (rollup)
hid computer and volumes from desktop

Sometimes you get the bear.  Sometimes the bear gets you.

Had a runaway ftp script blowup my ZenGNOME today.  Bear with me while I rebuild it.

Thnx

Zeq

EDIT -- Back up now.  Lost maybe 4 or 5 extra/xap packages beagle, sound-juicer, etc. I'll be rebuilding/upgrading them soon

Makes sense since they don't exist.

You can read the post on the page before this one on how to do this, or use the Zenwalk Wiki to find the same info.

Thanks,
Zeq

At the top of the repo there is a file PACKAGES.TXT. Open it in your favorite browser. Search for the section about "network-manager" and look on the line starting with: "PACKAGE REQUIRED:". As you can see the list is fairly long. Netpkg can resolve this automatically, so pointing it to the gnome repo and selecting only "network-manager" from the list will install all that is needed.

P.S.
Zeq the dependencies for "iproute2" are wrong. It is exactly the same list as for "network-manager", but I'm pretty sure it doesn't need anything from GNOME to work.

Thanks TIbors,  I'll look into it today. Probably another leftover problem from the server wipeout last week

On the majority, zengnome is working wonderfully. I would ask though where the thunar "Extract package" and "Install pkg" dialogs on right click went. and will they come back if i uninstall? maybe a third question, is there any way i can run Network manager ( a gui section, like nm-applet) in xfce? NetworkManager looks like the server, as for Dispatcher. Maybe Im not reading the man page, but care to indulge me?

the thunar plugins seem to be back, as for nm-applet, i simply added it to the rc.local and with this plugin http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel- ... let-plugin it displays nicely.

gnome applets in xfce. that is nice enough to maybe be added to the next build of xfce? :D if it wasnt for NMs dependencies, it is a wonderful little app.

Kool.  I'm just biding my time for the next couple of weeks while 2.18 is gearing up for release...

Just two questions:

1.) Why are the gnome packages not be put in the official extra repo (under g)?
2.) Why isn't gnome contributed in few big packages anymore (like it was before), rather than splitting it into many small packages?

1.) its not `officially` supported, as yet.  Its just my contribution and side-project.
2.) because not everyone wants everything I gave them in large chunks.  Having everything split up means a more custom fit GNOME.  Minimal Users will get the basics with netpkg gnome-2.16.3 and yet can still add onto their gnome by netpkg'ing extra pieces.  Also using large packages limits dial-up users while using smaller packages allows these users to be able to download them in stages.

Installed ZenGnome 2.16.  Everything seemed to start ok.  Definately gnome.

The gnome menus seem to be the same as my Xfce menus.  I did not see some of the applications that installed.

Question: How do I access the gnome applications from the graphical menu?  Is there a 'find applications' applet or something similiar that will populate the menu in gnome?

Thanks,

pete_bogg

netpkg alacarte

its the gnome menu editor, and is in Zeqs repo. beware though, as standard .desktop files are in /usr/share/applications (i think), while when alacarte changes them  it does it in your users home folder. so in xfce, they will come up under "other".

as you go through netpkg, look at the packages and their descriptions.
