Hello, I tried the new Beta yesterday evening. I loaded the OS onto an ASUS Eeebox 1.6 Ghz Atom.

Install went well. The biggest negative is that the keyboard (wireless OEM delivered with the ASUS) is configured with numlock on and the standard gui controls don't allow it to be turned off. Otherwise all seems OK but with the keyboard problem it's too much hassle.
The network setup took a little prodding (for WiFi) but was fairly smooth. And the system ran very snappily.

Oh and the default wallpapers are less appealing than those with 7.2.

It's been a while since I booted a Zenwalk system although for a while it was the most appealing Linux system. For some years I've been using Xubuntu for work and play. I recently tried Zenwalk 7.2 which worked well until I ran Netpkg to update the system. Something broke which prompted me to try the 7.4 Beta.

Best wishes.

Thats too bad that it got knocked off from basic ISO. Why packages gets knocked off from previous versions vs to current/latest. This will confuse the users i believe. I mean, its good to maintain the same set all the way. :-\

One more thing, again with Gimp, here on both 74 and (more than one version of) 72 Gimp is missing the icons in the text-toolbox.
Code:
sheila[~]$ gimp

(gimp:1482): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'format-indent-more' for stock: Error opening file: Permission denied

(gimp:1482): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'format-justify-left' for stock: Error opening file: Permission denied

(gimp:1482): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'format-justify-right' for stock: Error opening file: Permission denied

(gimp:1482): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'format-justify-center' for stock: Error opening file: Permission denied

(gimp:1482): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'format-justify-fill' for stock: Error opening file: Permission denied

(gimp:1482): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'format-text-bold' for stock: Error opening file: Permission denied

(gimp:1482): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'format-text-italic' for stock: Error opening file: Permission denied

(gimp:1482): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'format-text-underline' for stock: Error opening file: Permission denied

(gimp:1482): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'format-text-strikethrough' for stock: Error opening file: Permission denied

Obviously it seems to be a permission problem.

One small request, could xfdesktop-4.10.2 be upgraded to xfdesktop-4.11.2? It has the ability to put different wallpapers on different workspaces, which I like. The GIT20130330 version had this to, so I skipped 4.10.2, felt like a step backwards.
And, btw., I like the new icon-theme.

We have been experiencing stability problems with the GIT xfdesktop, that's why it's one of the few components that I keep in 4.10 stage.

I'm going to test it again :)

Note : I had to create a patch for Thunar to make it work with the new xfdesktop, so Thunar will have to be rebuilt...

I have to admit I got it from GIT, just installed it and was so pleased with the desktops... Thanks for having a look at it, I'll see if I can find anything going wrong :( and report if so.

tested here, with my new git package version since one week, seem to work correctly now.

a good idea is also to use the xinitrc.xfce script from slackware, for xfce4 work bettter, with startx.

Still testing, but on first impression, after upgrading xfce4-panel, some icons are missing from the menu, like from Thunderbird, Kompozer, Zenmap, CMake, Qtconfig and HP device manager.
Just now after I had all the icons in place with the new icon-package.... ::) I've downgraded xfce4-panel again and things seem to be working.

what do you mean : having a set of openbox packages fully integrated with Zenwalk ? or an ISO ?

If you provide the set of packages, I can build an ISO and make it available.

Cheers
