Zenwalk 7.4 RC1 is ready for final user validation !

    LibreOffice 4.1.3
    Gimp 2.8.10
    XFCE 4.12GIT
    Thunderbird 24.2.0
    Firefox 26.0
    Kernel 3.10.25 with performance tweaks

Zenwalk 7.4 setup toolset has support to install the system on an UEFI PC (note that the bios has to be put in legacy mode temporary to boot the install CD). This needs more testing.

Have fun !

I have been keeping my copy of the Zenwalk 7.4 BETA upto date with the changes that have appeared on the mirror. The only change I haven't made is upgrading the kernel from 3.10.20 to 3.10 25. Are there any other changes in the RC1 I should take note of, or should I assume that when I upgrade the kernel I am essentially running the RC1? I don't mind downloading an additional iso if it is really required, but I would rather not have to rebuild the test system again if I only need to update the kernel.

The trouble with stable beta test systems is that you start treating them as normal "production" systems and use them everyday use. A compliment on the BETA release I think :)

I have installed the ISO from usb on my Vaio notebook, everything seems to be running as it should. Spent some time tweaking, looks perfect!
For those interested in the look of my Zenwalk 7.4 desktop:

One question, for logfiles in /var/log, like syslog, messages, the permission for 'others' is set to none, so as a normal user you can't read them anymore. Is there a reason for this, on 7.2 it was 'read only'. And in my home in .config there is a gtk-3.0 folder owned by root, this also wasn't so before. Just curious.... :)
