Guys,

Just observed that Transmission GTK still has weird setting not loading problem after relaunching every time. The resolution is very simple. Actually the settings are saved into the settings.json file at $HOME/.config/transmission but few has encoding problem.

Just open it up in a text editor and look for weird characters (encoding issue), especially wherever paths are mentioned viz. "download-dir", "incomplete-dir", "open-dialog-dir had strange character for me. Removed them and saved. Re-lauching Transmission worked.

Note: Before editing settings file, please shutdown/quit the Transmission gtk/daemon/cli,etc. apps. Otherwise it just overwrites it again.

Nice. Loads quickly, very responsive.

Sad that the pretty Daliesque background has been dropped though ;-)

Review of Zenwalk 7.4 (64 bit)

... Very strange review - if you can even call it that.

But he has some good points. The ISO is not easy to find.

Yes.

It's because we don't have a web-page anymore, only the forum. I wish we could establish at least a minimal web-front ... for example my own private homepages are very simple hand-coded HTML5. Works on tablets and phones!

Directing http://www.zenwalk.org to such a similar web-page is better than not having one, IMHO.

If you give me FTP access (or some web-interface access) to a spot where I can put together a web-page, then I'll do it. X!!

It would be nice to have it so that when Zenwalk 8.0 is released, it's there already. A download link. A series of screen dumps showing the installation. A link to the forum. Simple stuff. No need for lots of graphics, but a logo - and I still like the old beach-banner ... other simple graphics is also OK.

Best regards,
Claus

P.S. My private web-pages are http://www.cfuttrup.com ... only meant for evaluation / your input as to whether this is too simple and old-style or maybe OK? Notice the blue-ish colors in the menu, a bit similar to Zenwalk forum.

I just tried to Google "Zenwalk" to find www.zenwalk.org ... it doesn't show up on page 1 in a search anymore.

I also see very little activity in here for the last week. Is Zenwalk officially dead?

It's far from dead but I wish someone hear you :'(
I miss the web page, the manual, and an updated 32-bit version

Hi,

Since a week or so, I've been working on the next step Zenwalk : Zenwalk 8.0 64 bits. _________will soon replace Zenwalk legacy 32 bits.

This 64 bits version is 100% EFI ready, and to be installed from an USB stick (or DVD).

To install it from USB , just do "dd if=zenwalk-7.9.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=1M" (where sdX is the USB stick device).

Zenwalk 7.9 is a test version, it lacks a few features but it's fully functional, and supposedly as stable as Slackware64 14.1 can be (I'm using it for production right now).

http://download.zenwalk.org/people/jp/7.9/

Happy testing
JP

Since some time, I can’t play Soundcloud audio or have sound on embedded when using Firefox. Do you also have this problem? My system is up to date.

If you are trying to maintain 7.4 updating from slackware
do not install this version
