The new kernel is available here for testing : http://download.zenwalk.org/people/jp/packages/

I'm waiting for your feedback ;)

Thanks

It will be a moment before i can test: a kdebuildings build is running at the moment: not the best of times for a reboot  ;D

I'll download and run a test when kdebindings either 'blasts' again, or finishes.

I expect a boot with the SD/CompactFlash module connected & not dmesg 'nastyness', combined with a 'clean' shutdown should be enough as test-pattern?

[edit]

test done: works ok for me..

Trying to boot the new kernel 2 times:
zenwalk hang on shutdown 2 time with "md: stopping all md devices."

Reproduce the test with:
- boot with an USB key plug in a NATIVE USB port and then shutdown

The previous kernel doesn't hang with 'native' USB port, just with USB HUB.

The chipset is common

00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 01)

With the patched kernel installed....and the usb card-reader plugged in....it now reboots normally and the 'nasty msg' in dmesg is no longer present, looks like it's fixed.

Plugged in the multi-card reader, downloaded and installled kernel-2.6.21.2-i486-46.2.tgz, shutdown or reboot 5 times in a row without any hangs.  Looks like the new kenel has resolved my problem, but I guess you really didn't need me to confirm it.

Thanks

Rich
