:'( So I have been trying to set up Server with Ubuntu and I have had it... I am sure I need a lot more experience but I still need to get this up and going. I have used xubuntu and vector off and on for several years now...

My question is: Should I use the regular zenwalk distribution or the zenserver? I need my server to have shared files between 4-5 XP computers and I have space to store some back up information on the server for the XP computers. I also well be setting up Raid1. I have to have a gui! My favorite is XFCE but I am interested in openbox and flubox. Not having a Gui scares me :o at this point.

so... zenwalk or zenserver?

thanks for the input...

From its site: Zenserver is truly deprecated now,

So obviously u can go for ZenCore and only needed modules since u say it just needs to be a server and nuting else. So probably u dont need any GUI tools to waste system resourses much..

If u run a Cafe, go for ZenCafe..

If you want to set up a server you can hardly avoid messing with cli tools and text config files. I always ssh to my server and usually edit with a gui editor forwarded by X. The procedure was set-up your server so that sshd works, put it where it should stay and disconnect screen, mouse, ..., then ssh in and configure the rest.
If you want to use as few non-gui tools as possible you could try installing webmin a web server administration interface. I don't know how well it integrates into Zenwalk because I only used it to restart ssh if I locked myself out stopping it. :D
