Gtkpod can be compile with libmp4v2 support. That lib is part of faad2. For the configure script to actually enable the libmp4v2 (AAC) support, the lib has to pass a a check: checking for library containing MP4GetMetadataGrouping... -lmp4v2. The libmp4v2 does not pass this check and the support is not compiled in. I am trying to figure it out (talking to the devs) and will report when I got something...

Please guys, we will decide who do maintain what after the 5.0 release.
For now, gmg is still active and didn't give up the team in this critic and important moment.

Thanks :)

Hi

about gtkpod and mp4 support: I had to rebuild faac without mp4v2 support, get the latest mpeg4ip source (1.6, fairly undownloadable, had to jump through a few hoops) and I am compiling that now. The problem is that the mp4v2 from faad2 and mpeg4ip are not compatible. gtkpod want the one from mpeg4ip. If I get this to work I might package it myself or transfer the knowledge to the relevant packager. But I will also try to build it with "twoLAME" support, just to have it "with all extras" built in... :)

Can I help with something? I would like to build and package something, but I use standart Zen packages (not gnome or kde).I have my own repository in homenetwork with my buildings (For example I compile and package mplayer-1.0rc2 and pidgin-2.3.0 when they source just stay downloadable).  Also I can translate something into russian.

I first want to see if I can get it anywhere near where I want it to be. And then there is the fact that I am still in school and will have my final exams in February so I'd like to keep my outer-school responsibilities on the low side... sorry. But I want to pass the information on
As I have found out I'll need the svn version of gtkpod as that works with mpeg4ip.

EDIT: It works. I will build a testing package for faac, mpeg4ip and the gtkpod-svn. This version of gtkpod allows you to add pictures in the pictures part and movies to the movies part, but not to the music video part. I'll report back later.

gmg & JP,
I have just packaged one of your binaries you normally do and would like to continue maintaining it.  It is smplayer & smplayer-themes.  I have just built the latest release of both against qt4.  Both seem quite nice on my setup and I've not seen any problems.  If this is one you don't mind giving up, I would like to try my hand at it for Zenwalk.  I've also done some other files as well, but nobody was maintaining those, except for filezilla and bipbip & I are chatting about that one now.

You can find the new files here:  http://www.axxium.us/users.zenwalk.org/ ... /smplayer/

Thanks,
BandiPat (Pat)(figment)  X!!
