Greetings

I tried to install VLC for Slackware on Zenwalk. (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-slackware.html) But FLAC support doesn't seem to work after install. Could it be something with Zenwalk, being "stripped" Slackware?

No idea, I've just arrived at zenwalk and slack. However the flac decoder flag is disabled by default in vlc. Maybe configure it with "--enable-flac" flag will work.. I am in the middle of building vlc 0.8.6c but it goes a little slow with my inexperience with compiling and tracking those darn dependencies.

I don't think the link is down. It looks like Mathew has removed vlc from his downloads page as of this writing:

Just to let you know if anyone would try building latest vlc - it`s impossible to build fully functional vlc with ffmpeg package from repository - to build vlc with avi support and let it use ffmpeg plugin you have to rebuild ffmpeg without "--enable-swscaler" option.

I just noticed your post. I had no idea about that, but after you post and a google search it seems to be a known issue for vlc and ffmpeg. If this is the case I'll build ffmpeg without the swscaler option so vlc can be built.
