Description:
Xmame and xmess are ports of MAME, the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator and MESS, the Multi Emulator Super System. Xmame emulates the hardware (and low-level firmware) of a massive variety of arcade machines while xmess is an emulator for the hardware of many different games consules (e.g. Sega, NES, SNES, etc.) as well as many different old games-oriented home computers (e.g. C64, C128, ZX80, etc.)

Note:
There is a file that is present in both packages (/usr/bin/chdman) but netpkg/installpkg/removepkg handles this fine.

You'll have to provide your own ROMs ofcourse!  ;)

except for this the packages look good to me, but i'm confused (again  :-[) how to run a rom. i got a zip-file which i put in .xmame/rc. but i get

I've fixed the deps...

You probably want to check out the loemu package too for use with xmame.

xmame looks ok to me. but i didn't get far with xmess. i tried it with some nes rom. isn't the syntax 'xmess file.nes' or 'xmess file.zip'?

In all honesty, I haven't played with xmess at all and I don't know how/if it works...  :-\

I think I'll send xmame to FIFO and xmess will have to wait until I get back from my vacation (leaving tomorrow morning  8) )

ok, i got a nes rom working with

it seems to work ok. maybe we should put up a little information about basic usage like this in the wiki.

OK, I managed to play some NES games and some PCEngine games with xmess. I don't have any other roms to test it with!  :-\  Sending to FIFO...

I'll add the information about how to load the game in the wiki. Thanks for looking into it hennes. :)
