I couldn't find such an entry, and I don't have sufficient knowledge to write one.
I am trying to install a fresh zencore system with fluxbox.
Right now I'm struggling with it and I believe that in the end I'll make it.
If it's acceptable I can start writing the wiki page with "Under construction" at the top and some of you will correct the mistakes and add the missing.
Or you want to write it yourself to be sure that it's correct?

By the way, I need help setting my system up. ;)

Never mind. :<

I'm leaving it for now.
I couldn't do it right now.

I installed fluxbox on the normal zenwalk and it works fine.

anyway I'll be happy to read such a howto.

And why would you set up ZW core + xorg instead of the regular ZW? Adding a different window manager is a piece of cake w/ ZW but setting up X is ... errr ... a bit more difficult (read: tried a dozen times didn't get it right even once).

It really depends on what you want to do with it. When I first set it up, I wanted a snapshot installation with minimal X apps but loaded with all the necessary tools for compiling programs. Also, I didn't want all the xorg files since I don't need all of them + I wanted a lightweight wm with no desktop manager.

If I remember correctly, I first fetched my window manager which in turn downloaded the basic Xorg files. After that, you need the appropriate Xorg video and input drivers to make X works properly. Of course with X, you need the fonts, so fetch the ones you need. If you are comfortable with working from cli, then starting your window manager shouldn't be a problem: i.e. having the .xinitrc in your $home starting the window manager with the appropriate environment. As for me, since I didn't use gdm or kdm, I used qingy which allows me to choose my sessions, be it console or window manager.

If this is too complicated, do what many people do: i.e. install the standard version and add what you want before finally removing what you don't want. I, personally, choose to start from core.

:D

For some reason people like to peruse the forum before being told to look in the wiki. FWIW, one can set it up without searching the wiki especially those self-starter folks. ;)

I know this is ZW forum but CRUX seem to fit that description pretty well.
