Hi,
I am using geany editor for LAMP coding. I want to automatically create backup file while working in this editor. In case of the editor "kate" there is an option to create a backup file with suffix ~ at the time of saving the file. I want a similar option in geany. But I am not finding any such option in this file. So can any one please help me in configuring geany to create backup file automatically on saving a file?

Best Regards ...
Pankaj Kumar

If you prefer Kate to do your editing, then just install the KDE files from a mirror. I know many times I prefer kedit or kwrite for such things, so I'm glad they are available from our excellent KDE maintainer.

Go to menu Tools/Plugin manager. Enable the Save actions plugin and, hit the Preferences key, go to Backup copy tab, check Enable. ;)

George,
It appears that "Save action" plugin is available on ZW Gnome geany, but not on ZW standard geany/

I realized right after I posted that it didn't make any sense, so I looked in to it. Apparently geany wasn't installed on my system, a least according to netpkg. ??? Even though geany was installed netpkg was showing that it was not install so therefore, at least I think, it never reported that I need to update to the latest version, i.e 0.15. After installing the updated package, the "Save action" plugin is there. Sorry about the false alarm. :-[
