Please use the
wxGTK-2.6.3-i486-1asz.tgz
from linuxpackages.net then it will work out of the box

Yes, you need wxGTK with unicode support.

Cheers.
:)

I tried it on a slack and a zenwalk box, but didn't build it (used a binary)
I just installed the wxgtk oskar told you, from LP, and it works fine.
That's for the right side. For the dark side, it crashes (freeze) often, there are numerous bugs and all the
functions are not implemented yet. Bug number one, all the images, saved or not, are going to /tmp, which is growing fast, so if you don't clean your /tmp sometimes, you will not be able to start X (/tmp full).
I will wait the 0.8 version to build it (a lot of bug-fixes, svg support)

Anyway, it's an amazing soft. I'm an early beginner, but take a look at:
http://desktop-candies.blogspot.com/ (in construction)

Cheers,
Fred  :)

Fred, the binary, was it the tar.bz2 file or the "autopackage" ?

I installed both unicode and ansi wxgtk, i will however try some other revisions, to see if they un-brake it....

it needs to be unicode and modular so the monolithic package from zeqadious for example may not work with xara
+ most wxgtk-packages cant be installed in parrallel as they will overwrite each others

wxgtk:  http://www.linuxpackages.net/download.php?id=8078
xaralx-0.7rev1692: http://downloads.xara.com/opensource/Re ... 92.tar.bz2

That's all !  :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone !

Wxgtk is modular by default, isnt it? anyway i built wxwidgets myself with options suggested by xara build instructions.

Todays xara snapshot (r1738) did build for me, but it is not running very far. Gdb says a segfault happens somewhere in the gdk, so i went into a netpkg upgrade frenzy, which made no difference. I will keep tryin'  ;D

When/if i get rid of all the wx widgets, i will maybe try Fred's combination of packages

Thank you ugly dolphin! but what the ..... is IM ??

the segfault seem to be happening is "0xb7ce15f5 in gdk_window_get_origin () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0"

any ideas ? we're talking zenwalk 4.2 something
