If the router was the culprit pls mark the subject SOLVED. Thx.

Just wanted to add that some of the "power saving" features in the BIOS can effect wifi signals. Personally, I've also found that the command line tools (ifconfig and iwconfig) are better at handling wireless connections than the GUIfied tools, for unknown reason(s).. In addition, I was amazed at how easily the wifi daemons handled these configuration files, without any trouble. Whenever I turned on the laptop I was already on the wireless without having to watch it connect or wait for it to happen. I've yet to see that kind of simple setup in any OS whatsoever:)

Hi Sigg3.net

The thread isn't really mine. I'm just one of several people with problems - mine is solved, but what about the other guys?

Best regards,
Claus

Hi guys, same here. I still have drops, but have reduced them by using Opera and changing my pop-up settings. A new router isn't in the budget right now, but is going on the list!

Not sure if the op's situation is solved, he may not be watching this thread anymore-

Hi madmarv.

OK, let's say - if you fix your problem - please write it here, at least other readers will have a couple of suggestions then, and the we can call it "solved" ... X!!

Best regards,
Claus

Today playing whit totem I found that gst-plugins and gstreamer could give big problems to wireless connections.
Maybe only in some drivers.
I am now using a bcmwl5 whit ndiswrapper.

gstreamer-gnolin I found was the problem today. A continuos connect and riconnect and showing in wicd a double spot of the same spot.
