After giving up on linux drivers and simply using ndiswrapper, the wireless card itself works.

My problem is that WiCD will not give the right password for the network. I use WPA2 with PSK and AES with a passphrase on my router. WiCD will not connect or gives the wrong password to the router despite my putting in the verified correct passphrase.

I've tried both of the only WPA 1/2 settings with neither of them working.

Any way to fix this?

Hello! This is my first post here, in the Zenwalk community. I had looking for an answer for my trouble in the forum and the only I had found is this topic. I have the same problem with the wireless connexion.

Yesterday I installed Zenwalk in an old AMD K7 computer. This machine haven't an integrated wireless card and I would like to connect trough the Thomson Tg123g usb adapter. First I had a lot of trouble with the drivers but finally I achieved installing the latest version of RTL8187B driver with ndiswrapper. Now the adapter are working, it find my wlan, but when I try to connect the WiCD says that the password is incorrect. Of course, I installed the slackware-current wicd package and rebooted the system. However the problem persist.

I'm new in the linux world and I'm fear I did something wrong.

P.D: Sorry, about my expression, but my English is too bad.

After a long struggle to get my Ralink rt2070 working, I also got the 'Bad Password' from Wicd. But after installing the mentioned package and a restart I've got a connection!
Thanks!

The other solution is to install networkmanager.
You need this 2 packages :
http://zen-repo.meticul.eu/i486/current ... 6-70.1.txz
http://zen-repo.meticul.eu/i486/current ... 6-70.1.txz

1°) you have to stop the wicd deamon.
In root mode, type :
Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.wicd stop
removepkg /var/log/packages/wicd*
rm /etc/rc.d/rc.wicd

2°) Install the 2 packages above.
Always in root mode, go where you download the packages and type :
Code:
installpkg NetworkManager-0.8.4.0-i486-70.1.txz network-manager-applet-0.8.4-i486-70.1.txz

3°) Restart the pc and you should see a new applet to configure your network

Good luck :)

I spoke to soon when I said the Ralink RT2070 worked with Wicd, it was only for a short while and then back to the 'bad password', but following Bip's suggestion of using Networkmanager I now seem to have a stable connection with no bad passwords. And a signal strength of 100%, wauw!
Yesterday I also got my Realtek RTL8191SU working thanks to updated software from Realtek, this one didn't have a problem with Wicd, so the problem seems to be networkcard related.
I now have the luxury of two working wireless usb-adapters! \!D/
