Hi,

Trying Snapshot on Samsung laptop. Wireless modem signal strength is in the range 40-50%. Connection speed is very good on the same laptop at the same location in Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 beta. Both of these use DHCP.

But if I enable DHCP I have this problem: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=39136.

To solve this problem, if I disable DHCP and give static I.P. addresses the connection speed becomes extremely slow. Sometimes it even disconnects.

Anand

I have a better connection whit the last wicd. My range is about 38%
lucky 50%
https://launchpad.net/wicd
Latest version is 1.7.1
There is a problem if you are using NM, even if you change rc.d/rc.services wicd does not start(missing rc.wicd)
you will need to run as root
wicd start
If you already use wicd should be no problems just compile and install
the tar.
If is a driver problem I don't know.

thank you very much bipbip
I'm using wicd. But I don't have problems whit NM.
Connection does not appear to be any different in my system.
NM does not give me the strenght of the signal before connecting
and when it loose the signal get mad asking continuosly for root
password etc.
That's all
thank you again
PS I got installed the new xorg from slackware no problem
only problem is xorg.conf (keyboard at first log does not work)
