I am new to Linux and Zenwalk. I was fine through my web browsing and trying to figure out how to install a new app. Which I still am stuck on, but that I'll try to figure out later. But whenever I try to look at screensaver the screen goes blank and I can't do anything. The screen kinda flickers too. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Even I suffered the same problems with a few types of screensavers. I tried to remove default screensavers and customized some of them. Now i am not getting such problems. I advice you try the same once.
And regarding addition of apps to your system
log on to
http://packages.zenwalk.org/?v=snapshot
and place the name of the software you want to install. Its already packaged by many contributors and you need to just download it and right click and press install. or you may also use pkgtool for installing the package. Dont forget to install the application as a root user.

You may equally try netpkg, an excellent package installing tool.

I have a problem, too, with my P IV machine (intel graphics). It helps to put "vga=normal" (no quotes) in the kernel line of the boot (I'm booting with Grub 1 instead of Lilo).

You can even try installing new screensavers from the repo and delete the existing ones. One or two screensavers have the problem in Intel Chipsets. It works fine in AMD processors.
