 Post subject: can't play avi files

double click the avi file, display "FATAL: Could not initialize video filters (-vf) or video output (-vo)", but i play other video files can.

What media player are you using? If you are using mplayer, open up mplayer preferences and select the video tab, and select "xv X11/Xv", the select the audio tab and select alsa. Restart mplayer, and you should be able to watch any video.
