Computer: eeePC-900. Zenlive 6.4 running from USB flash (with UNetbootin help). Starting Menu-System-Install ZenLive 6.4 and get window "Enter the administrative password". Entering "ZenLive" (as per manual) and answer is just "Incorrect password... try again". OK, try again. enter password with/without ", login as "root" with password "ZenLive", but no success yet. Any suggestions? Sorry for so foolish question, but I spent half a day... ::)

First of all, would you please ask ZenLive related Questions in the ZenLive subforum, please?

Second, make shure you have loaded the correct keyboard mapping matching your kayboard layout.

The default password for ZenLive is "ZenLive".
I don't know how you created the USB-Version with UNetbootin, but that is not the official way to create an USB Version of ZenLive. So if you got a problem this is very likely related to unetbooin NOT to ZenLive.

Try to open a shell and su to root, if this also not works you will have to re-create your ZenLive usb version as follows:

- format your usb stick with ext2 filesystem and mount it under /mnt/

- copy the complete content of the Live-CD to your stick

- rename /boot/isolinux folder to /boot/extlinux, and /boot/isolinux/isolinux.cfg to /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf

- then write a new boot sector by issuing:

Code:
extlinux --install /mnt/boot/extlinux
umount /mnt/
cat /usr/lib/syslinux/mbr.bin > /dev/sdX

Where /dev/sdX is the device your USB stick appears on your system

That steps should turn the official ZenLive ISO version to an bootable USB Version and that one you should not have any Password issues with.

Thanks a lot for your reply and sorry if I posted in wrong thread. May be I did not make it clear but I have ZenLive 6.4 running smoothly from my flash stick so there is no any problem with Unetbootin, flash stick or ZenLive itself. Problem is just when I wish to install Zenwalk from ZenLive to my computer it asks administrative password and does not accept "ZenLive".

I understood that correctly, and I am assuming that you eighter have a problem with your keyboardmapping, have you checked that typing ZenLIve in a texteditor exactly matches what you typed?
Or that the problem is due to your conversion of the live cd. Believe me, I know what is the default password and that that works as I am the creator of ZenLive 6.4. ;)

If you want to install, I recommend you the following, as the standard procedure will install live environment specific stuff as well, the following will produce a more generic Zenwalk install:

boot the live version with boot paramenter

exclude=03-zenlive.lzm:04-langpacks.lzm

Then it will not load livesystem specific stuff and the root password will be empty, you will be asked for giving a root password.

One you have managed setting up a new user account, login and use the installer as usual (giving the root password you have choosen berfore)

I could not install Zenwalk from the USB flash, so I just borrowed USB DVD/CD writer, burned ZenLive to CD and installed it through the same DVD/CD writer without any problem. Previously I used just Ubuntu and it's clones and Puppy. And so far Zenwalk looks great, with excellent choice of software and small enough for my 4 GB of eeePC.
Thanks a lot for your patience.
