First of all i wanted to express my profoundous admiration and aproval for this high-performance
development community, wich is my favourite sector.

As i'm approaching to install this brilliant operating system, i wanted
to ask you eventual advices to take the maximum performance from it, regarding to boot/partitioning/configurations appliances

USAGE - If you think further information could be added for a better answer, dont hesistate about ;)

Mainly: Browser, Mail Client, SSH/Graphic Remote access, IM, VoIP
Systematically: Excel_Compatible
Eventually: ScreenSharing
Files Downloading/Installing: As i will use it just for work, addictionally to up-written
tasks i'll sometimes (rarely) archive text documents, as so media/enterteinment software
will not be used.

Notebook SPecifics:
Model: TOSHIBA Satellite L30-101
BIOS: ACPI v2.5
CPU: Intel Celeron M410 1,46 Ghz (i686! isn't?)
RAM: 1918 MB (upgraded)
HD: hts5410 (60 GB) (5,4k rpm)
Video: ATI-Radeon Xpress 200M
Wired: Realtek RTL8139/810x Fast Ethernet

In order to reach the best performance i have the following questions
about the Zenwalk's Standard CD Installation:

BOOT
1) Does default Boot option fits well? (IDE pata/sata)
2) Wich kernel name should i type?
3) Wich options should i set for boot setup?

PARTITIONING
1) Does AUTO-INSTALL achieves the best options for me?
( i heard from people that it set's other partitions like /var -> moving it to another file system
doesn't it lower's my performance?/ so does i can partiton any dir to improve performance?)
2) Wich default extension AUTO-INSTALL applies?
3) Does a primarly partition is used harder than a logical one? so wich partitions should i choose as primary and wich not ?
4) Does i really need swap, since i have 2GB RAM and my tasks are poor memory usage? (or not?)
INSTALL CONFIG.
5) Does LILO is the better dfrom GRUB about bootloading?
6) Wich otpions should i set for them?
7) What about for Kernel, Parameters, LILO FrameBuffer and Start up services?

Forgiving for my eventual irregular english (im arg/it :D ),
i'll be very happy of any eventual Reader advice,
and Zenwalk's Advice indication that someone found
(i currently couldnt find any).

My regards, Matias

PS: If i've done any incorrect attitude, dont worry about freely telling it ;)
EDIT: Does this request fits well over this section, or should i move it to 'Problems' section were i saw advices can be proposed

Without thinking it too much I would say just go for autoinstall(that is if you have whole disk to spare), that will give you just good setup(that is what devs figured would be good).
Only one problem I see in your post is if you install zenwalk-7.0 you will need to use this instead of what is provided by iso. I have same GPU in my laptop and you need this older mesa to get X working.

if you go 6.4, that will be fine as it is.
if you browse for the announcement section you will find the RC's there ;)
"Why should i pass from i486 arch5tecture, since i have a processor that is an i686?" >> I wouldn't worry about that :)

I asked that because i see you passed me a mesa for i486, but my processor is i686 (this does not change anything??)

1) 7.0 version is better?? And if i have to use that mesa how i use it ?

EDIT: Oh well i see is still in test mode, so i think i'll try 6.4 ;)
However i would like to understand the issue about i486/i686
and a BIG Thanks! Matias
