Hi, it is possibile play cod4 on Zenwalk OS.
i wrote a summary for all the instruction you need to install an play COD4:
---------
get source of Wine 1.1.5 (last) patch it, then configure and make.
(it can take long time)
see: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=12804
(i patched using all the three patches)
---------
Now, we need to download and install a DirectX DLL file so that everything runs smoothly:
from http://www.m3fe.com/files/d3dx9_34.zip , unzip in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/
Change Wine to use Windows XP emulation mode, and add “d3dx9_34.dll” into the winecfg Library section as a Native dll (winecfg)
see: http://www.fsckin.com/2008/02/21/how-to ... -in-linux/
----------
After this you can install the game under wine.
I tried with an original copy.
If you still have problems such as Vertex etc...
the best way is to install proprietary graphic driver, NVIDIA offers the best support ever, ATI doesn't.
----------
In the game:
Turn off the following options for optimal performance:
Anti-aliasing
Sync Every Frame
Shadows
Specular Map
Depth of Field
Glow
Number of Dynamic Lights
Soften Smoke Edges
Soften Smoke Edges is the most important - Make SURE you turn this off, otherwise the game will not be playable at all.

You can upgrade COD4 with all the patches to 1.5, the game continueto works.
If you have troubles with PB try manual update from web.

Hi there,

I haven't got any ideas, but I was wondering if you ever got a solution
as I would like to do the same thing. Cheers!
