I can't believe I'm the first to report this. But the XFCE weather plugin doesn't work. I have the latest current xfce-plugins package, 4.6.0 - build 60.2. The newest version of the weather plugin is supposed to fix this problem, but when I compile and install it seperately, it still doesn't work. In fact, I'm not sure that the new weather plugin that I just installed is overriding the old one that came with the xfce-plugins package.

I noticed a couple of days ago that it wasn't updating but since I had had problems with my router/internet connection I thought that was the problem. I just removed it from the panel since I didn't use it that much anyway. After reading your post I tried adding it again and it still doesn't work. All I get is "no data". Did they change something about how they read the location. I have been using my zip code in the states for quite awhile and it worked.

This isn't just an xfce thing. Any one who hasn't registered with weather.com for their feeds can't receive much information. That's Linux,Mac and WIndows. Registering for the feeds is free and then you receive a XOAP PARTNER ID and XOAP LICENCE KEY. Most weather programs haven't incorporated them in yet.
Personally I use conkyForecast which has incorporated these in. It is a thousand times more powerful than the xfce plugin.

So what is the procedure when a Zenwalk program stops working? Apparently the maintainer of this weather plugin has fixed it. So when does the Zenwalk team update the xfce-plugins package in the current repository with the fixed version? Or do we have to wait until the next version of Zenwalk? Not complaining, just like to know what is the usual procedure. Should I report it as a bug?

Best report such issues with as detailed description as possible per mail to the packager.
You can retrieve the packager for any Zenwalk packages like that (just replace xfce-plugins and the version with the right values for any package):
Code:
head /usr/src/xfce-plugins-4.6.1/build-xfce-plugins.sh

Right click on weather panel, select preferences, and select 'help'.

The section labeled 'ABOUT' will explain the problem.
Download an updated version--build and install it. Remove the old version
from the panel then right click on the panel and re-install the weather update.

The updated version works just like the old version except the writing in
the panel is larger and easier to read.

Thanks, Norm, I actually did that the first time, but it still ran the old version. So this time I created a symbolic link to the new version in the directory where the plugins are supposed to reside. And now it runs the new version, and everything works. By routine, when I do manual installs I put things in /usr/local rather than /usr and that was the cause of my problem this time.
