Ive been using zenwalk since 5.2, I admit, im not zen-pro. i have been using slackware since version 9 though.. anyway, i have fairly recently adopted zenwalk into my servers mostly so far for dns servers and routers. i have been fudgin about with it for a mail server, just havent had time.. at any rate.. the newest zenwalk 6.4 doesnt work in vmware esxi. there is absolutely no way to have an ide drive in vmware esxi. i dont think i would "complain" about this, if it hadnt worked in the past. lol, im not complaining either, just trying to figure out what got removed. per the site, zenwalk core is a great server, and it is, but a server that doesnt support scsi? not much of a server. i can probalby slipstream a different kernel in there, but again, it used to work. anyone have similar experience?

i tried installing Zenwalk 6.4 under Vmware Fusion, same problem, ZW can't find any hard disk to install, this might be VMware's problem, but quite strange while other Linux distribution can find a hard disk to install

it is not vmware... it is the controller support. zenwalk 6.4 doesnt see the scsi controller/drive. not sure which.

ok, so, in 6.4 Fusion MPT doesnt ever seem to sload up. not in dmesg at least,. in 5.2 just after fusion gets up, the disk is there, and it can be installed. there are 2 options in 6.4. either use bus logic in esx/esxi or slipstream a new kernel in there. is there a reason for fusion no longer being there in the scsi kernel?

CONFIG_FUSION & CONFIG_FUSION_* are missing in the kernel.
It should be back in the zenwalk kernel package soon.
