ok now i see, it was 0.7.2 that i built and I see there's newer 0.7.999 which i didn't try :-[

EDIT: now i tried it and yes you are correct, it calls for gudev-1.0 which is part of the udev-143 and later.

Can we expect to have the new xorg (1.7.4) ?

I ask this because since ZW 6.2 I have problem with my touchpad which seems to be solved with newer xorg (at least, when I tried distribution with newer xorg, problems disappears)
Also, I have bought a netbook that needs xorg 1.7.X to have the synaptic touchpad enable.

I think it is time for Zenwalk to have the usb modules built into the kernel to allow people to boot from USB flash memory or hard drive.

i would like to see the top panel little bigger than what we now have, or move to just one "winnie" style panel at the bottom. like in this picture
Image
i don't mean the colours, but just the layout. Or maybe we could have that panel in ZenColours.

A week ago I gave a try to Zenwalk Core but I had some problem with the net connection. I have an encrypted ADSL connection which I used to set up with pppoe-setup. I couldn't use this command on ZW Core because core edition doesn't contain it. Never mind -thought- I will set it up by hand then just connect.
In spite of I think I did everything well I couldn't connect, I had to download the rp-pppoe-xxx.txz package (on another OS) and installed it on ZW Core. After all I managed to connect...
What I want to say that the next core edition might contain the whole pppoe stuff.

If this thread is only for the standard edition I beg your apologize :-\

Here are the ones I would like to see in the next version:

1. Zenwalk 6.4 alpha still can't save my notebook's LCD brightness (/proc/acpi/video/IGD/LCD/brightness value).

2. I had to comment out the last line of /etc/pam.d/system-auth to disable the "last login" dialog when GDM's auto-login is turned on.

3. Please include "nano" by default.

4. Use the option "compact" in lilo.conf. My system loads kernel image very slowly without it.

5. sudo by default for the first user created?

6. No X-terminal background transparency. That is really annoying.

7. "double-click mode" by default in thunar.

8. enhance shutdown time (fonts cache and shared library links update).

9. Move the dolphin icon (main menu) to the larger panel. New users to Linux cannot always find it. Seems to be more intuitive with the other launcher icons.

Thanks for this great GNU/Linux OS!
