Zenwalk 7.0 RC1 is ready !

All blockers bugs have been fixed since the BETA, main XFCE components have been upgraded to version 4.8.1, udev has been downgraded to 164 to fix a startup race condition in 165, and a number of xorg packages have been upgraded.

I downloaded and burned RC1 to CD-RW, but the setup hang up by "Loading initrd.img..." ???

If you have any other OS running, just try on virtualbox this new ISO

Hi,

Trying Zenwalk-7.0RC1. Installation went off without any problems. But I have the following three severe problems:

1. CD does not mount. I get this error message: DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already pending.
2. USB stick does not mount. I tried removing ehci_hcd module. Even then usb stick does not mount.
3. Hangs at bootsplash while booting. This hanging appears to be random in nature. Sometimes it boots properly sometimes it hangs. During bootsplash if I press F2 and come to text mode, I can see lot of error messages related to usb devices being not recognized properly. Sometimes it hangs at starting of hal daemon.

So this release candidate is not a good candidate, but I have no information which could allow me to fix the problems... >:(

How to now go back to kernel (current)? Can I do it using netpkg?

use xnetpkg or download the current kernel and use upgradepkg.

Tried kernel (current). No problems. CD mounts, usb stick mounts, and no hanging at booting. But with kernel (current) my wired network does not work.

So, is it possible to recompile the old kernel with all the new kernel modules that come with the latest stable kernel ie. 2.6.37 kernel?

à mon avis ce noyau, a des problèmes, mais bon je te l'avais déjà dit, les problèmes ne viennent pas de udev, mais bien, du noyau

de plus GREG KH, le mainteneur, de la branche, a pratiquement un mois de retard, pour passé le noyau en rev 1, je ne crois pas que ça soit une bonne

idée, d'utiliser, ce noyau en production.

We had the same problems with previous kernel.

These problems started when we began using the Slackware udev..
