Hello,
I want to use the intel play microscope:
lsusb tells me:
Bus 006 Device 003: ID 0813:0001 Mattel, Inc. Intel Play QX3 Microscope
So I found the drivers at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/webcam/
But I really dont understand the readme, it seems to be for professionals:
Quote:
(a) compile the kernel with cpia support. Activate this in the
multimedia devices/video for linux section, select
CPiA Video for Linux (CONFIG_VIDEO_CPIA)
and, as appropriate,
CPiA Parallel Port lowlevel support (CONFIG_VIDEO_CPIA_PP)
CPiA USB lowlevel support (CONFIG_VIDEO_CPIA_USB)

(b) replace the files cpia.c cpia_usb.c cpia_pp.c cpia.h in the
kernel source subdirectory drivers/media/video/
with the ones from here (in the subdirectory "module"), and recompile.

If the kernel source is in /usr/src/linux-2.4/....
go to .../drivers/media/video/
rename the kernel cpia files to cpia.c.orig, cpia.h.orig, etc. and copy
the new versions into this directory. Then cd to /usr/src/linux-2.4, and

make modules

You can now do

make modules_install

I don't know how to do each step? I've already donloaded kernel-sources. Could you explain me the steps I have to do?

Michael

Is it not talking of old kernel which is 2.4? I guess the new kernel may have this module build in already. Or jst check with the author if he/she has an updated for 2.6 kernel ver.

In the changelog is written that 2.6 is also supported. But I don't know how to do it...

Well you need to download kernel source, kernel headers from zenwalk repo. Then compile kernel http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/compiling ... el-26.html should help you.

Again as i was saying, do some google search or find out if those drivers has already been merged into the vanilla kernel.

Thank you very much for your reply. I used another grap program (cheese instead of wxCam) and everything worked out of the box!
