 Post subject: package of p7zip 4.43
PostPosted: Mon Oct 09, 2006 12:51 pm

Hi,

after many tries I finally succeded in packaging p7zip with the docs and the various plugins. Rar and ARJ will follow shortly so I can test archive self-extraction ability within Xarchiver.

Enjoy another 'great' production for Zenwalk:

you should fix your shortcuts:
Code:
root[licaon]# 7z
/usr/bin/7z: line 2: /home/gt/p7zip/p7zip-4.43-i486-1z30/usr/lib/p7zip/7z: No such file or directory
root[licaon]# 7za
/usr/bin/7za: line 2: /home/gt/p7zip/p7zip-4.43-i486-1z30/usr/lib/p7zip/7za: No such file or directory

Yeah thank you; I realized this just yesterday when trying to use the package. I'm working on it.

Ok, I fixed it; now the symbolic links are correct.

Hi,

/usr/share/doc should be moved to /usr/doc

You have to fix permissions troubles, for example:
usr/bin/ should have a group of 'root'
usr/bin/7za should have a group of 'root'
usr/bin/7z should have a group of 'root'

Cheers.
:)

gt[xarchiver]$ ll /usr/bin/7z
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2006-10-10 09:03 /usr/bin/7z -> /usr/lib/p7zip/7z
gt[xarchiver]$ ll /usr/bin/7za
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 2006-10-10 09:03 /usr/bin/7za -> /usr/lib/p7zip/7za
gt[xarchiver]$

What do you mean?

If you look inside the archive, you'll see that those three folders/files are root:bin. It is caused by line 38 of your build script
Code:
chown -R root.bin $dest/usr/bin

Since /usr/bin already exists on your system when you install 7zip and the two files are replaced with symlinks by the 'doinst.sh' script, you don't see it on your HD.

If you use pkgcheck right after you make a package, then it will catch this kind of errors before you publish it.
