hello Til,

;)  thank you.. it works :)   now i'm happy because I was able to record the streaming mp3 .. just like the way it works on the other two distros that I've been using for almost 2 months (namely BLAG and WOLVIX).

http://geocities.com/alexanderangnj/blag.jpg
http://geocities.com/alexanderangnj/wolvix.bmp

from the above screenshots off the two distros that I've been using for 2 months, I usually drag-and-drop my saved mp3 files into my winXP PC that is connected to the network :
* on BLAG, I click on computer, which then shows network then clicking it ..  shows MSHOME and clicking it brings me to XP_PC where I can then drag-and-drop the mp3 files

* on WOLVIX, I click on either Wolvix or home, then click on the up arrow icon until it shows network

so in ZENWALK.. how do you do that ?

I'm running xfce-4.2.3.2 and there is xfsamba - but not yet(?) included in xfce-4.3 :(

You can install samba on zenwalk or use this little script to mount your xp share:

mount_public_share.sh
-x-x-x-x-
#!/bin/sh
smbmount //wxp/public /home/public -o username=til_on_xp,password=secret_on_xp
-x-x-x-x-

You have to set the suid-bit on smbmnt and smbumount to (u)mount as normal user.

chmod u+s /usr/bin/smbmnt /usr/bin/smbumount

Btw. here http://media.visions.cz/ are some really nice
/audiovisual_performance/music_videos with electronic beats ;)

cheers
til

root[~]# smbmount //wxp/hpookie/TV120 /home -o username=,password=
3311: Connection to wxp failed

sorry for the delayed response - i have to work some times ;)

the syntax for smbmount is:
smbmount //remote_name/share_name /local/directory -o username=...

//wxp/public was just an example for
remote_name=wxp
and
share_name=public

Don't try to mount a win share to your '/home' directory!

In your case:

mkdir /home/tv120

smbmount //hpookie/tv120 /home/tv120  -o username=...

And you can check your remote shares with 'smbtree'
