I installed stardict in /usr/share/stardict and the read sound WyabdcRealPeopleTTS in /usr/share.It can be palyed by mplayer, but in the stardict there is no sound. In the directory /usr/share/stardict/sound,there are two .wav file which can also be read by mplayer, but can not make sound in the program--stardict.I want to ask how to deal with this problem. In the command line I type:esd, there is a beautiful sound.

Hi,

I am the packager/maintainer for the stardict package.
I just rebuild Stardict for ZW 4.4.1 snapshot which fixes this sound issue.

You can try the updated 2.4.8 packages and see if it works on you machine:

get it from:

http://users.zenwalk.org/user-accounts/ ... 6-46.2.tgz
http://users.zenwalk.org/user-accounts/ ... 6-46.2.md5
http://users.zenwalk.org/user-accounts/ ... 6-46.2.dep

Please try my new packages above this will fix the problem!
The reason why is, stardict was build with gnome support, but this prevents Stardict from playing sound under non gnome desktop, I recompiled it with --disable-gnome-support and sound is working now!

Just simply add --disable-gnome-support as option to ./configure.
If you installed my above packages you already have the build-script under /usr/src/stardict-2.4.8/
Please refer to this build script for more information.

You also get the build script directly here:

http://users.zenwalk.org/user-accounts/ ... tardict.sh

p.s. You don't need to recompile the package, the above version is just fixed this problem. This version should be available in the official ZW repo soon.

Do you running ZW 4.4.1 SNAPSHOT? This package is built under a fresh installed ZW 4.4.1 SNAPSHOT. I am not sure but maybe upgrading your XOrg to version 7.2 will do the trick.
Would you please keep me informed if this helped?

EDIT: According to this thread http://support.zenwalk.org/index.php?PH ... c=6915.new
the problem is related to Xorg version, you need to have Xorg >= 7.2, so you have to upgrade to SNAPSHOT to be able to run this package.
The alternative would be grab my build-script and recompile it under ZW current.

Hello,

Thank you for the help.
You are correct the problem should be the xorg. I use snapshoot except the xorg (I have keybord issues with the latest version of xorg). So I will recompile your package with the old xorg and I will report here the results.

Ok, understood.
My build-script will also work without modifications for ZW current with the old Xorg version. So you just need to start the script and your are done. ;)

Did you installed this version: http://users.zenwalk.org/user-accounts/ ... 6-46.2.tgz

When Mouse over the buttons, did you hear sound then?
