According to the wiki http://wiki.zenwalk.org/index.php/Mount_NTFS_using_NTFS-3g_and_Udev_scripts

I edited the /lib/udev/hotmount.sh script in order to use the ntfs-3g driver instead of ntfs and in order to be able to access the disk as user.

The wiki was mentioned here

http://support.zenwalk.org/index.php/topic,9102.0.html

Now I can access the mountpoints usb usb1 and usb2. Thanks whoever has written this wiki.

I would like to give a fix name for the partitions of the external usb hard-drive (in fstab?) like HD-USB_1, HD-USB_2 and HD-USB_3. The order should stay the same even if I hot-plug an additional USB-Stick (which is usb3 at the moment and which I can use as user as well). But I can't see the partitions using cfdisk. So I'm not sure what to write into fstab.

I use zenwalk 4.6.1 snapshot and the file-format of the hard-disk is ntfs.

Try Hotname in Zenpanel when it is plugged in.

Good luck, and welcome to Zenwalk :-).

Hi sega01

I have been working on zenwalk for quite some months, but for a while I didn't use Linux at all. But it's good to feel free to ask stupid questions.

I've done so as you told me, but now the options for safe unplug in thunar are not any longer available.

I'm also pretty sure, that my usb-stick becomes usb (or the renamed HD_USB1) if the stick is hotplugged first.

Edit: I have tested it: the order and the mountpoint remains the same, but the mount/unmount option (mouse-right click) for the usb-drives has dissapeared, both as user and root. I had to umount the drives manually.

Go into
Mountpoints > Edit > Configure custom actions > Safe unplug > edit > Appearance conditions
and add your choice of name, so that, for example,
usb*;fire*;pcm*;mmc*  becomes
usb*;fire*;pcm*;mmc*;HD-USB*

(or use a name that begins "usb", which matches the existing pattern)
