"Yes, i agree."

Yes i did it :DDDDDDD

I'm clearly an inexperienced user according to the test.

Real problem was xfce startup ask my hosts file and i had no network. Btw i solved it. piece of cake :D
I hope this is all and some bigger monster dosen't lurking here...  ::)

You wrote to install/upgrade a list of packages.

But dbus is still in /extra, and in gw version (on  http://repository.zenwalk.org/ (?)
Is it normal ?

Dbus is on the latest pre-release iso if i'm correct (there is a messagebus service mentioned when you can set the services to be started at boot).

PLease read my post with more attention : I wrote that some packages WILL be upgraded to match the ISO, WHEN the new version WILL come.

It's a previsional warning, these packages have not been updated yet.

HI,

i'm using 2.6 right now. Now there are serveral packages upgraded but dunno if it would be in this state a risk:

Code:
netpkg list-upg

i wished there would be a backup solution. Anything like sbackup for example.
Now as JP said in his warning i think these are only for upgraders?

My last upgrade-config has just killed my users pwd's etc. so xlock etc. doesen't work anymore.

Write a little script, for example like this:

OK, this sound easy. But it happens that when I renisntall some packages (don't know exactly which one) I lose all my desktop, window manager and ui settings and I have to customize them again. Will the above script save them, beucase I don't know where they are kept really...

You should create a separate /home partition. That way, when you reinstall, you only wipe your / and not your /home, so you'll keep all your user settings ;). This script is meant to back up the general settings (often in /etc) and some other stuff.

when can we expect  2.6 iso? i have upgraded packages with netpkg, and now have the same problem which i had once when i installed 2.4. when i put usb flash stick in, i become two folders usb and usb1. mount shows that stick is mounted on usb, but when i get in and when i try to ls the content i become input output error message.

hm, now i see what is at least the part of problem. udev mount the stick as ext2, and the stick is in fat32 format, second it mount sde and should mount it's first partition (sde1). manually i can mount the stick with mount -t vfat.

any recommendation what should i do now? wait iso image, or something else? i have alredy tried to reinstall udev sysfsutils and pcmciautils but didn't help.

udevtest /dev/sde gives me this as output:

deno[rules.d]$ udevtest /dev/sde
add_to_rules: invalid SYSFS operation
add_to_rules: invalid rule '/etc/udev/rules.d/udev.rules:26'
add_to_rules: invalid SYSFS operation
add_to_rules: invalid rule '/etc/udev/rules.d/udev.rules:56'
main: unable to open '/dev/sde'

and mount shows that it is mounted as ext2:

/dev/sde on /mnt/usb type ext2 (rw,nosuid,nodev,sync,dirsync)
