Hi all,
Just installed Zenwalk on a laptop! Im liking it so far but.............

Ubuntu being my only experience of Linux on my main personal laptop, im confused as to how things in Zen/Slack work.
For instance Im trying to use ndiswrapper to get my Netgear WG511v2 PCMCIA card working.

In Ubuntu I found this relatively simple. After all the ndiswrapper stuff, I could go straight to the interfaces file like this

gedit etc/blah/blah/interfaces.
And edit it appropriately.
And I assumed it would be the same in Zenwalk, but unfortunately i was wrong and im stuck with ethernet for the time being....(as my broadcom based pci card in the other laptop is fried :-[)

Anyways Im using the Xp drivers with ndiswrapper,Iv edited the etc/rc.drc.wireless.conf to this
--->

Code:
00:0F:B5:8B:43:84
    INFO="Netgear WG511v2"
    ESSID="MyRealEssid!!"
    MODE= "auto"
    CHANNEL="7"
    RATE="auto"

and i changed rc.inet.conf to
----->

Code:
IFNAME[4]="wlan0"
IPADDR[4]="192.168.0.10"
NETMASK[4]="255.255.255.0"
#USE_DHCP[4]="yes"
#DHCP_HOSTNAME[4]="icculus-wireless"
#DHCP_KEEPRESOLV[4]="yes"
#DHCP_KEEPNTP[4]="yes"
#DHCP_KEEPGW[4]="yes"
#DHCP_IPADDR[4]=""
#WLAN_ESSID[4]=BARRIER05
WLAN_MODE[4]=Managed
WLAN_RATE[4]="54M auto"
WLAN_CHANNEL[4]="auto"

And I use the command
Code:
 /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 wlan0 start

to try and get the interface up but it doesnt work?

Hope my post is semi-coherent!!
And hopefully Il get this sorted! X!!

Can you try wicd instead of the command line? You have to enable the service first from your Zenpanel/Services and then run it from the menu. You can configure your wlan from there.

If it's an ndiswrapper/driver problem, I'm sorry but I have absolutely no experience with it and I can't help.
