Re: Zenwalk 7.4 RC1 is ready for final user validation !

I have been keeping my copy of the Zenwalk 7.4 BETA upto date with the changes that have appeared on the mirror. The only change I haven't made is upgrading the kernel from 3.10.20 to 3.10 25. Are there any other changes in the RC1 I should take note of, or should I assume that when I upgrade the ke...

Re: Zenwalk 7.4 BETA IS READY

I have been testing out the new versions of the music applications I have running on my main Zenwalk computer on the Zenwalk 7.4 BETA Quadcore. These have all been compiled from source but seem to be working fine QjackCtl: 0.3.11 Qt: 4.8.5 Qsynth: 0.3.8 Qt: 4.8.5 Qtractor: 0.5.12 Qt: 4.8.5 http://ww...

Re: Zenwalk 7.4 BETA IS READY

Hi Blackbird, I had of course forgotten to check and uncheck the mirrors in the drop down table with the + and - buttons. I knew it was going to be something embarrassingly simple in the application that I had forgotten to do . The xnetpkg application is now working the way that it should and any er...

Re: Zenwalk 7.4 BETA IS READY

Thank you for the Zenwalk 7.4 beta, I am having great fun playing with it. Admittedly I loaded it on a spare Quad 4 with 4 Gb of RAM, so the system is running reasonably quickly. When LibreOffice opens in about 2 seconds from cold you can't really complain. The default look and feel is neat and cris...

Re: shutdown / reboot seems slower than previous versions?

prfasse, I just tested your "experimental" script on my Zenwalk 6.4 and the shutdown was remarkably faster. I hadn't really noticed before, since one didn't shutdown/reboot the system that often. However, having arrived back from an extended stay in New Zealand I was putting some changes o...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

I haven't installed latest Zenwalk 6.2 release candidate so I probably should not comment. However, having read through this. an previous posts I feel that I will have to be really careful at installing the final ZW 6.2 on any of my clients machines, especially those that don't have standard configu...

Re: New user registration is now blocked! (and now unblocked)

I'm not sure that I'd consider myself more than usually visually impaired, even after a long day on the computer, but I would have to admit that having had a look at three registration screens, I was not able to read any of the confirmation codes with any degree of confidence whatsoever. If I'm havi...

Re: Zenwalk 6.0 has been released !

I did an upgrade from 5.2 to 6.0. One of my minor niggles was that when I clicked on Control Panel, it went straight into the Panel and then I had to type out the root password for each of the applications. In some respects this action was an improvement for system security, if somewhat of a pain if...

Re: Zenwalk 6.0 has been released !

Thanks muchly z2501, my system is back to being stealthed. Its the curse of too much GUI'ing and it being 6am here and the end of a long upgrade session but I had entirely forgotten (if indeed I had ever bothered using it on the CLI) the xnetconf command. Infact you have to run it as "gksu xnet...

Re: Zenwalk 6.0 has been released !

I've just run an upgrade from my Zenwalk 5.2 ( plus a bit) through to Zenwalk 6.0. No real problems since the relevant Wiki entry was very straight forward. Having a prowl round on the new system, there seems to be nowhere to turn the firewall on. In previous Zenwalk releases there was a box to clic...

Re: Zenwalk 4.6 is out

I realize that this is exposing my ignorance, but it is obviously a strong selling point for Zenwalk 4.6 "The most important change in 4.6 at system level is the new tool chain, with GCC 4.1, which has been fully implemented. All libraries and applications have been compiled with this tool chain - i...
