Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

I'm thinking about keeping Grub2 as an option in the extra repository , waiting for Zenwalk 6.4 to replace Lilo. What about this ? JP JP, you'll notice that the package he(RogerWilco) tried to use was Til's, so I think we are good for Grub2 in 6.2! Plus, users need to understand the dangers of tryi...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

Ok, I think I understand what you mean. Not so much as reducing the content, but making it more suitable to the instructions you sent? Is this more like you are thinking? $softname: GRUB2 -- GRand Unified Bootloader 2nd Generation $softname: $softname: GNU GRUB2 is a Multiboot boot loader. A boot lo...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

BandiPat, please make a standard slack-desc in your package an example here (not variable in slack-desc), an example in this buildscript: m and the fonts should not be in /usr/src gmg Not sure what you mean gmg? Do you want the description shortened? What parts would you have removed? The length of...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

I wouldn't rule out other causes - but with a fresh install from an iso indicating a problem with grub2. And when replacing grub2 on iso or upgrading to my grub2 build - both show the expected menu - is even stronger evidence. Again, I submit it is strong evidence there is a problem with your syste...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

There was no problems during the installation, normal, standard, simple installation. Grub2 does not recognize the installation of Windows. Also bluetooth doesn't work for simple user, only for root it works fine. Suspend to ram/disk also doesn't work propertly on DELL and HP laptops (for example, ...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

@Bandipat Unfortunately not - the screen shot comes from a fresh install (virtualbox) from an unmodified iso RC7 m ps There wasn't any change from RC4 to RC6, RC7 changed that with 'error:' instead of 'err:' Then I suspect it's a problem with your system, as this error would still indicate a bad pa...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

Just tried RC7 to see any changes in grub2 behavior - only to find 'err: file not found' has changed to 'error: file not found' m m expected this: m til, I suspect your efforts to continually discredit the included Grub2 comes from something else other than errors. These are the same pics from your...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

This is what I've got after installing 6.2rc7 + simple grub2 You obviously had a problem during install, either a non-standard setup, virtual install or just a bad install. You could send me the /var/log/sg2conf.log for examination, if you like. JP, This install (RC7) could not have gone any smooth...

Anand, did you experience this in a regular install to the hard drive or a Virtual install? What did your sg2conf.log say?

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 BETA has been released !

One thing I see is that for the memory test entry, you need to use "linux16" for that as it's a 32 bit program that won't work with "linux". Also, if you want to display the splash to hide the scrolling text in your first Easy Peasy, then use "linux16" for that as well....

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 BETA has been released !

Post your grub.cfg for us to view. The resolution shouldn't be causing a problem with the timeout numbers. Although, you will have to remember to use a resolution smaller than the odd 1024x600 setting. Remember the setting for timeout is in seconds, not milliseconds like many use, so for 5 seconds u...
