Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC6 is ready for testing

I accidentally blew away my ZW snapshot partition the other day so I installed RC7 tonight. I did not need to partition my drives, so I went directly to installing. Luckily I had my /home directory on another partition so it wasn't lost in the accident. I set up / on sdb2 and /home on the existing /...

If kernelsource is not installed, the kernel modules for vbox will not be built.

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC4 is ready for testing

For the moment extra deps, is not updated, all extra/xap , need recalculate dependencies, with the new xorg, and with all others changes on the 'ISO' and qt and................ damnageHack is correct, the VirtualBox package does not call out kernelsource as a dependency. Prior to the 2.6.28 kernel,...

2.6.30 kernel Headers – The Missing Directory

Although the problem in this thread got fixed, it came back on the 2.6.29 kernel and continues on the 2.6.30 kernel. These kernels with just the kernelheader package installed, do not allow compiling of drivers for VirtualBox and NVIDIA. The kernelsource package; a package that is very large and tak...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC1 is ready

Use VirtualBox You will find the OSE (open source edition) in the repository. Unfortunately it is not the most current one. 3.0.4 is out but Zenwalk repo still has 2.1.4 Snapshot does have the latest VirtualBox, 3.0.4. But you still are going to need to install the kernelsource package to compile t...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC1 is ready

Just did an install on VirtualBox. Grub works on the vm. Also was able to confirm the two problems that I posted above; that there are several dotnew files that need to be processed and that the Quit button only allows Log Out. Here's a script recording of my terminal session showing the dotnew file...

Re: Zenwalk 6.2 RC1 is ready

I have a couple of oddities; First is that the Quit buttons, both on the top panel and the menu only allows you to log out. The other choices; Restart, Shutdown etc, are greyed out. The second thing is that there were several dotnew files that needed to be processed. Checking for configuration files...

hyperion wrote:yes , the kernel will be updated.

But even with 2.6.30.1 we would still be several versions more up to date than Redhat or Suse :)

I have no idea if this is a problem with snapshot, but just to let you know:
