Code: Select all

JP, do you think that this read-edid tool might be useful?

videoconfig is based on read-edid since 1 year at least ;D  (look into the code)

I'm working on it ...

;D I wasn't aware of that. You are full of surprises JP :)

Don't worry, I'll be here, waiting eagerly to test your new videoconfig :)

Thanks,

Worked fine on my lappy. The vertical scroll on the touchpad works fine as well, but the horizontal scroll turns into "Go back" or "Go forward" in firefox. It didn't work in other applications.  It doesn't really bother me since I rarely use horizontal scrolling.  Having the capability to go back or forward on it while browsing is like having the mouse gesture bonus.  ;D

Fixed the problem by tweaking these two values in firefox:
mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action  1
mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.sysnumlines  true

And, added:
Option "HorizScrollDelta" "100"
to Synaptics portion of InputDevice section.

IT WORKS, IT WORKS \!D/

It works great! It creates the correct Modeline now (it's exactly the same as my old one) and then uses it. I think many widescreen users are gonna be VERY thankful JP  ;D You have done a great job!

Thanks,
mfluder

fushark : can this option Option "HorizScrollDelta" "100" be added as default config for any user, in your opinion ?

mfluder : thanks for testing, now I need at least 10 testers on Laptop and Desktop to report success as well before puting it into the ISO :)

Cheers

Nah, I think this is not always necessary for everyone.

I tested it and the results are

1. detected video card: RS485 [Radeon Xpress 1100 IGP] using driver ati - OK
2. video resolution: 24 1280x800 - OK
3. Synaptics driver - OK it works.
4. detected keyboard: pc105 layout br - Wrong. The correct keyboard is abnt2 layout br.

The option 1280x800 is not available in Xfce config.

dennix, choose "default" in xfce and it will choose the 1st entry in the "Mode" lines in xorg.conf

Tested this one too. It works as expected. And I see that you have fixed some cosmetic "bugs" that were present in the previous test version (Modeline was named after the refresh rate and now it is named after the resolution AND the refresh rate - nice :) And also HSync and VSync flags are now correctly added at the end of the modeline).

Thanks again,
mfluder

I tested the new one 48.6 on my desktop and again had the same problems.  It would not put the correct hortsync value in and did not show the native resolution of 1400x1050, just the 1280x1024.

Downloaded and installed both files in the first post (using the new 48.6) to my laptop, init 3, videoconfig, init 5 and I could not read anything on the screen.  Must have been something very small.  Opened thunar and couldn't see enought to find xorg.conf to see what was in it.  The laptop is a Gateway AMD64 Turion running Zenwalk 32 bit.  The video card is:

01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon XPRESS 200M 5955 (PCIE)

Hi,

videoconfig does not work with ati x700, this has to be added to the Device section in xorg.conf:

Code: Select all

Option      "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,NONE"

can this be made automagicly?

Regards,
