Confirming problems with cd/dvd drive (sata). It has no problems whatever with cd's and dvd's that contain files, but it has trouble reading audio cd's and video dvd's (not blu-ray). I can play audio cd's with goobox, but not with alsaplayer or xine, which could play audio cd's on 6.4. And I can't play dvd's, usually I use smplayer but it doesn't recognize a dvd is in the drive.

I think this is an issue with udev, maybe we need some rules to set up /dev/cdrom, not sure.

Vlc problem with youtube URIs

Post by joeham » Tue Mar 01, 2011 4:47 am

I can't get youtube URLs to play using play from clipboard or enque. This works in other distros.

running vlc from cmd line with -vvv gives:

VLC media player 1.1.4.1 The Luggage (revision exported)
[0x804caf4] main libvlc debug: VLC media player - 1.1.4.1 The Luggage

[0x804caf4] main libvlc warning: cannot load module `/usr/lib/vlc/plugins/access/libaccess_http_plugin.so' (libproxy.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)

plus more stuff.

I looked at the /usr/lib/vlc/plugins folder and plugins are there owned by root with others having read and execute privileges. The plugins-04041e-68.dat is not there.

Is this an RC bug or am I missing some important setup or dependency?

try this new 'sysvinit-2.86-i486-70.2.txz' package:

http://download.zenwalk.org/i486/snapsh ... 6-70.2.txz

after update, run 'netpkg dotnew' in root and reboot.

i think it's fixed ;)

I did all what you suggested, but after about 15-20 seconds in Thunar appears only "Empty DVD"...

hello,

I just try the latest RC and I have a problem with seting up a sis163 wifi usb key.
I'm using ndiswrapper with the GUI tool.
I select the right .inf file, I click install, and I have :

Code: Select all

Le module ne peut pas être chargé : L'erreur était :
FATAL : Module ndiswrapper not found.
Est-ce que le module ndiswrapper est installé ?

Do I miss something ?

do you have ndiswrapper installed?, try with command line. Here it's ok but I'm now using the 70.1 kernel not the 70.3 if that makes any difference.

EDIT: run "depmod -a" and then try again.

It's an "out of the box" installation ;)
Installing the wifi is the very first action I make with this PC.
