For me it worked to install gnome-keyring, gnome-keyring-manager was already installed, and json-glib of course, the gksu problem (remember password for this session) was solved and network manager also automatically connects to wireless network after reboot.

I added the missing package gnome-keyring and everything fine.

Great! :)

Now coming back to the Gimp/Cairo issue, the difference in slackware's and my package lies in libcairo.so.2.11200.14. When I swap them, the problem appears/disappears. My lib is larger, 1,2 MB, the slackware one is 1,1 MB but about the contents I don't know.
For those who don't exactly understand what my problem is, I made a screenvideo with Htop also running.
I am trying to rotate a 8 MB picture, but as soon as I click on the image /usr/bin/X (/usr/bin/X :0 vt07 -nolisten tcp to be exact) starts using almost 100% CPU. This happens at every adjustment I try to make so it is impossible to see what the effect is of what you are doing because it is so delayed. The second video is with 'my' cairo package. This is a AMD X2 2,7GHz CPU, Nvidia graphics, nouveau driver, but the same happens with nVidia driver, with an Intel CPU and ATI videocard (the latter on Zenwalk 7.2 that is). With a faster AMD X3 CPU the delay time is a lot shorter, but still annoying.
Does this ring a bell somewhere? Someone?

There is no problem to swap libs and start using your build.

Please could you post a link to your package ?

Do you want to maintain this package for Zenwalk ?

Anyway, I think that it would be fair to send a mail to Pat about it so that it can be applied in Slack.

Thank you very much for the report.

My package is on my notebook, so I would need a place to upload. I would love to maintain some packages, but I don't know if I know enough to keep out of trouble. I learn with trial and error... There is a new version of Cairo, I have made a package but not tried it, I don't know if it conflicts for instance, there are so many programs depending on cairo.
I have some more from extra I made for my own use, I would gladly offer them. Ive got Viking with gpsbabel, icecat 24 and some more....
Tomorrow I will have time, please let me know how I can help.

writing in the train

we try to keep packages versions synced with slack.

so until there's a good reason, no need to upgrade things faster than Pat.

if your pkg et is an improvement for the actual version, we can use it temporary and go back to slack pkg asap

I hope it makes sense for you

Of course, this seems reasonable to me.
And about packages from extra, some are terribly outdated and don't work any more so I rebuilt the ones I need, are you interested in those, I could make a list, and rebuild some more.
And how to go about uploading cairo package?

Yes, this one works! :)
And it has sphinx, also I still haven't figured out what sphinx does. Perhaps the patch was also about this? My package came as far as mentioning a makefile for sphinx, but it didn't build. Being pleased it worked anyhow (and without a patch) I didn't bother. It was meant for personal use only as nobody else complained and I can't do without Gimp.
And I still find it strange no one else has complained, doesn't everyone Gimp??

Thanks, Blackbird

A pity it took so long, I first reported this, with the solution, about 6 months ago.......
